Our winemakers first craft beautifully rich red wines matured in traditional wine barrels. Then using our unique double barrel technique, the wine is finished in aged whisky barrels to build additional layers of complexity and an incredibly smooth finish. Double barrel cabernet sauvignon has aromas of vanilla, nuts and varietal cassis with ground spice and leafy notes.

The soft and velvety Merlot combined with the more powerful Cabernet Sauvignon grapes produces a luscious red wine. Deep crimson in colour with aromas of blackcurrant, mint, spiced fruit, cinnamon and vanilla flavours.

Well-regarded since launch, the Koonunga Hill Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the typical cellarability that all Penfolds wines are renowned for. The wine has excellent structure and length and while it is ready for drinking now, it will gain further complexity with short term cellaring.
